Problem

Our site is slow / Google flags it

Speed problems build up one plugin, one tracking script and one uncompressed image at a time. Nobody owns the budget, so the page gets heavier every year.

This is for you if…

Recognise two of these? Let’s talk
  • Pages crawl on mobile, especially on a bad connection
  • Google Search Console flags our Core Web Vitals
  • Every redesign makes the site heavier, not lighter
  • Nobody knows which plugin or script is slowing us down
The diagnosis

Why this happens.

Speed problems build up one plugin, one tracking script and one uncompressed image at a time. Nobody owns the budget, so the page gets heavier every year.

What not to do

[YOU]: the most expensive performance mistake you have seen a client make before calling you.

How I’d approach it

I measure first, find what costs the most seconds, and fix hosting, images, caching and scripts in that order, then set a performance budget so it stays fast after I leave.

Where I’ve done this.

Questions I get.

Short answers, straight from me
What are Core Web Vitals?

Three numbers Google uses to measure real user experience: how fast content appears (LCP), how quickly the page responds to a tap (INP), and whether the layout jumps around while loading (CLS).

Is speed about Google or about users?

Users. Google measures Core Web Vitals because they track what a visitor on a slow phone already feels. Make the site faster for them and the ranking usually improves too.

Can we fix this without a full rebuild?

Usually yes. Hosting, image handling and caching bring back most of the speed on most sites.

Who keeps it fast after the fix?

Some Tech Work runs ongoing monitoring and monthly checks, so a new plugin or campaign script doesn’t undo the work.
