Problem

We need a relaunch but fear losing rankings

Rankings belong to specific URLs. Change those URLs without a plan and search engines lose track of your pages, and so do visitors with old links.

This is for you if…

Recognise two of these? Let’s talk
  • Marketing wants a new site, but nobody wants to touch the URLs
  • Our last relaunch (or someone else’s) tanked traffic for months
  • We’re changing domain, brand or platform at the same time
  • Nobody has mapped what happens to every old page
The diagnosis

Why this happens.

Rankings belong to specific URLs. Change those URLs without a plan and search engines lose track of your pages, and so do visitors with old links.

What not to do

[YOU]: the most expensive relaunch mistake you have seen a client make before calling you.

How I’d approach it

I map every existing URL to its new home before a single page goes live, plan redirects, content and tracking up front, and check rankings every day for the first weeks after launch.

Questions I get.

Short answers, straight from me
Will a relaunch hurt our SEO?

Not if every old URL gets a planned new home before launch. Most ranking loss comes from skipped redirects.

How long does a safe relaunch take to plan?

For a site with a few hundred pages, mapping URLs and redirects takes 1–2 weeks before launch. Tens of thousands of pages take longer.

Can you migrate 100,000+ pages?

Yes. I led the StudySmarter to Vaia migration of over 100,000 pages across 6 markets, including the redirects and the ranking checks after launch.

What do you watch for after launch?

Search Console coverage, ranking movement on your money keywords, 404s and crawl errors, checked daily in the first weeks and weekly after.
